A Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) from the OPP is required for all volunteers with the MLL as we work with youth. A VSC is valid for 2 years from the date it was issued.
You may use a valid VSC from other volunteer work as long as it was not processed more than 2 years ago. If your VSC expires before the end of the baseball season for which you are volunteering, you will be required to provide a new one before it expires.
Applications for a Vulnerable Sector check are done online through the OPP website.
How to apply for a VSC:
You can apply for a VSC through the OPP Website (https://www.opp.ca/index.php?id=147&lng=en).
You will need a volunteer letter:
MLL_VSC_Letter_2026
Please add your full legal name and the date to the letter linked above before submitting.
Please note that VSC processing times with the OPP will vary based on the number of requests they receive. It is highly recommended to start the VSC process as soon as possible to be ready to go for baseball season!
When you receive your VSC:
If you are already registered with the MLL as a volunteer, please email your new VSC to the MLL Safety Officer ([email protected]) and it will be uploaded into your Volunteer Profile in SportsHeadz.
If you are a new volunteer, please register in SportsHeadz and upload your VSC when prompted.
For questions or concerns, please reach out to MLL Safety Officer at [email protected]
